How to get there
Your trip begins with flying to Khabarovsk. Buy tickets from an airline that suits you. Flight from Moscow takes about 7 hours. The time difference between Moscow and Khabarovsk is +7 hours.
We recommend flying with Aeroflot. Their modern comfortable aircraft are equipped with multimedia systems and on-board internet that will make the flight entertaining. If you are travelling from Moscow or Saint Petersburg, we suggest booking the latest flight in a day. That will give you an opportunity to sleep during the flight.
Unfortunately, flights from Khabarovsk to Chumikan are all early in the morning, but incoming flights from Moscow and other large cities land much later. There is no quick flight connection; but it gives you the entire day in Khabarovsk: you can see the city, take a walk by the riverside, take a look at the famous bridge over Amur, visit other landmarks and taste far-eastern cuisine.
We suggest using any federal taxi service to travel from the airport to your hotel. It would be better to order the taxi 15-20 minutes before leaving the airport.
We recommend these hotels:
- Khabarovsk City Boutique Hotel - the best hotel in the city rating and in our opinion. Reasonably priced, clean and nice rooms. The hotel is in the city center. The Amur embankment and all of the landmarks are close by. It is easy to talk a walk and enjoy the scenery.
- Olympik. Nice cozy and reasonably priced rooms. Great restaurant and decent service. The hotel has its own spa facilities.
- Parus. The most lavish hotel in the city. Located in the city center and overlooks the Amur embankment. Excellent service. Big rooms.
- Europe. Serene, reasonably priced and clean unpretentious hotel.
After you check in your hotel, you will have ample time before your flight to Chumikan the next morning that you can spend resting, or walking the city, or taking some guided tours. All hotels provide information on the city; and you can also Google anything you are interested in. We will help you plan your time in Khabarovsk when you book your trip.
The next morning you need to get to the Khabarovsk airport on your own at least one hour before your flight to Chumikan. Then you will go through all the standard check-in procedures for the internal flights.
We remind you that you should book and buy your Khabarovsk - Chumikan tickets at least 2 months in advance. Otherwise, it is virtually impossible to get to Chumikan in summer. We suggest you let us do the booking and buying for you.
Remember than when traveling from Khabarovsk to Chumikan, the limit for free luggage is 10 kg (not counting laptops, cameras and other equipment). Sometimes the airline limit the number of luggage units you carry; our agreement includes checked in luggage of 20 kg and carry-on of 5 kg. We do not recommend going over this limit per person, since you will end up needing to leave some of your things in the airport luggage storage in Khabarovsk.
The flight takes 2 hours and 20 minutes. Another option is available - a flight with refueling at Nikolayevsk-on-Amur (it is 1 to 2 hours longer). Modern 15-seats Czech L-410 planes go to Chumikan. These flights are performed by Khabarovsk Airlines.
If you are a group of 8 to 12 people, we can consider an option of booking a charter flight or a helicopter for you. This should be discussed separately.
We thank you for your consideration in case of possible delays of the Khabarovsk - Chumikan flights. The local airports in the majority of the Khabarovsk Territory are not equipped with an ILS (instrument landing system) that allows for landing in adverse weather. All the flights require visual control and consideration of the actual weather conditions. Remember, everything the airline does is for your safety.
We will wait for you outside the airport terminal with a House of Taimen sign. The road from the airport to our base is 30 minutes, at most, and we provide the transport. Have a safe flight!
